Hiking week starts on the Bestwig Panorama Trail

Bestwig. Great views, big and small discoveries along the way and genuine hospitality: the municipality of Bestwig has a lot to offer. The participants of the hiking week on the Bestwig Panorama Trail are currently finding out exactly what this is. Today was the start of the "Arnsberg Forest Nature Park Tour".

Starting from the Flair Hotel Nieder in Ostwig, the 18-kilometre route took them via Föckinghausen and the Plackweg past the Grimlinghauser Lourdes Grotto back to Ostwig - under the expert guidance of hotelier Josef Nieder. There will be a premiere on Friday, 4 July: a sunrise hike to the Bastenberg, led by Alexandra Busch, starts at 3.15 am.

While registration is required for the sunrise hike, interested hikers are invited to take part in the Hiking Week tours on Saturday and Sunday: On Saturday, 5 July, an 11-kilometre loop on the mining hiking trail starts at 10 am at the Sauerland visitor mine in Ramsbeck - led by Hans-Georg Diel. He is chairman of the Sauerland Visitors' Mine Association, which invented, designed, created and continuously developed this high-quality themed trail. This tour is also the "opening" hike of the Bestwiger BestWeges Ramsbeck trail.

The hiking week ends on Sunday, 6 July, with an exploration of the Hamorsbruch raised bog in the Arnsberg Forest. From the church in Nuttlar, carpools will start at 10 a.m. to the Stimmstamm, from where the 15-kilometre tour to Hamorsbruch and then back to Nuttlar will begin with forest educator and forester Antonius Vollmer.
