Hike along the Bestwig Panorama Trail in four stages

The popular hiking week on the Bestwig Panorama Trail is starting again. Hiking with all the senses is the order of the day from Thursday, 3 July to Sunday, 6 July. With local hiking guides and hiking restaurateurs, beautiful sections of the 53-kilometre Bestwig Panorama Trail will be conquered on foot in four stages. There will be a rustic lunch break and breakfast in the countryside as well as cosy refreshment stops at the end.

Tour 1 on the Bestwig Panorama Trail starts on Thursday, 3 July, at 10 a.m. at the Flair Hotel Nieder in Bestwig-Ostwig and leads back to the starting point as the "Arnsberg Forest Nature Park Tour" in an attractive circular route, in parts on the Bestwig Panorama Trail. The hiking guide is hotelier Josef Nieder, whose hotel also provides the lunch break. The route is 18 kilometres long and leads via Föckinghausen and the Plackweg past the Grimlinghaus Lourdes Grotto.

On Friday, 4 July, the hiking week will feature a premiere: A sunrise hike up the Bastenberg starts at 3.15 am. The meeting point and end point of the 12-kilometre sunrise hike is the "Auf der Wünne" refuge (Zum Knüll, 59909 Bestwig-Berlar). The hiking guide - even with a certificate - is Alexandra Busch. The Landgasthof Rüppel in the person of hotelier Stefan Rüppel supports the hike and serves a rustic breakfast in the Wünnehütte at the end of the tour. This is expected at around 7.30 am. At 745 metres, the Bastenberg is the highest elevation in the municipality of Bestwig and offers magnificent views - this time spectacular at sunrise. Registration is required for this tour, as there is a minimum number of 10 participants.

The third tour with hiking guide Hans-Georg Diel starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, 5 July. The Bestwiger Panorama Trail runs parallel to the Ramsbeck Mining Trail for a few metres. And it is precisely the mining trail that will be walked as part of the hiking week. This high-quality themed trail was invented, designed, created and continuously developed by the Sauerland Visitors' Mine Association, whose chairman is Hans-Georg Diel. A themed trail could not be of higher quality and the 1000-year history of ore mining in Ramsbeck is brought to life at over forty stations along the 11-kilometre route. The tour starts and finishes at the Sauerland visitor mine in Ramsbeck. Please bring rucksack provisions. After the hike, there is the opportunity to stop off at the museum restaurant Schlemmerstube zur Lore.

And another special feature: the six new Bestwiger BestWege trails will all be celebrated with a guided "opening hike" over the year 2025. The high-quality mining trail is the themed hiking trail in Ramsbeck, so it was clear from the outset that only this trail could be the Bestwiger BestWeg in Ramsbeck. And the "opening" of the Bestwiger BestWeg Ramsbeck takes place with this hike as part of the hiking week.

On the fourth and final hiking day, participants will meet on Sunday, 6 July, at 10 a.m. at the church in Nuttlar (the square in front of the Schützenhalle can be used as a car park). From here, they will carpool to the StimmStamm near Meschede. Forest educator and forester Antonius Vollmer will explore the Hamorsbruch raised bog in the Arnsberg Forest and, of course, explain how such raised bogs are formed. The forester also leads the tour and provides lots of information about the state of the forest from a forester's perspective. The 15-kilometre route back to the starting point in Nuttlar follows attractive paths - including parts of the Bestwig Panorama Trail. A rucksack is required for this tour.

The hiking week can then be brought to a convivial close with a final stop at the Gasthof Dalle Valle.

Further information is available from the Bestwig Tourist Information Centre, telephone 02904/712810, as well as on the website www.bestwiger-panoramaweg.de (where you can also find an online registration form for the sunrise hike). Whether you join one or several tours, all hikers are welcome - registration is only required for the sunrise hike.
