Hazardous waste mobile on 23 May in the municipality of Bestwig

Dispose of hazardous substances in an environmentally friendly manner: The next mobile collection of hazardous substances in the municipality of Bestwig will take place on Friday, 23 May. Citizens of the municipality of Bestwig will then have the opportunity to dispose of hazardous substances safely, conveniently and at no extra cost.

The hazardous waste collection includes, for example - in normal household quantities - cleaners, chemicals, paints and varnishes, solvents from the household; pesticides and pest control agents, wood preservatives, adhesives, paints and varnishes, leaching and staining agents, wood preservatives, solvents, acids or rust inhibitors, paints, care products, cleaning cloths, oil filters, brake fluid and cold cleaners from the automotive sector.

The employees of the hazardous waste mobile will only accept used oil in exceptional cases. When buying fresh oil, the cost of disposing of the used oil is already included in the price. The dealer is therefore obliged to take back the same amount of used oil free of charge. Car batteries are also taken back free of charge by retailers when a new starter battery is purchased - they are therefore also only accepted at the mobile hazardous waste collection centre in exceptional cases. Pharmaceuticals can be handed in to pharmacists free of charge or disposed of in the grey residual waste bin. Household batteries can be handed in free of charge at the collection points as well as at the respective points of sale.

Fluorescent tubes and energy-saving lamps are also not accepted by the staff of the hazardous waste mobile. These materials can be disposed of via the collection system for waste electrical/electronic equipment offered by the municipality of Bestwig. Also not accepted are car tyres, which can be handed in directly to tyre dealers and garages, or waste such as tar paper and asbestos. Fully cured paints and varnishes can be disposed of in the grey residual waste bin.

The municipality of Bestwig requests that hazardous substances be disposed of in their original packaging wherever possible. Liquids should always be in tightly sealed containers. The containers cannot be returned. Pollutants must also never be left unattended before the collection vehicle arrives.

On Friday, 23 May, the pollutant mobile will first stop at the primary school in Nuttlar from 11.15 am to 12 noon, then in Ostwig at the Schützenhalle from 12.15 pm to 1 pm. It will continue from 1.15 pm to 2 pm in Bestwig at the old goods station and from 2.15 pm to 3.15 pm in Velmede at the Schützenplatz. The mobile will then be in Berlar in the village centre from 3.40 pm to 4 pm, in Ramsbeck at the Schützenhalle from 4.15 pm to 5 pm, in Andreasberg at the Schützenhalle from 5.15 pm to 5.45 pm and in Heringhausen at the Schützenhalle from 6 pm to 6.30 pm.
