For work and integration: Bestwig municipality is looking for accommodation for people with prospects of staying in Germany
Anyone who wants to live and work in the municipality of Bestwig and develop prospects for the future here needs a home. This also applies to people who are assigned to Bestwig as refugees. The Bestwig municipal administration team would therefore like to support people with prospects of staying here in finding their own accommodation - and asks them to register any available flats.
Background: Refugees who come to Germany usually go through an asylum procedure. When they are recognised as a person entitled or entitled to asylum, they are also given long-term prospects of staying. At the same time, they are required to endeavour to find their own accommodation instead of being housed in refugee accommodation - especially if they have already taken up employment. However, people who are still receiving citizen's benefit may also need new accommodation - for example, if their previous accommodation is no longer available, e.g. because it has been cancelled due to personal requirements.
"For people who want to integrate and build an independent life, having their own home is an enormously important building block," says Claudia Schmitten, Head of the Bestwig Citizens' Office. For this reason, the Bestwig municipal administration invites all owners of vacant flats who would like to rent accommodation to refugees to contact the municipal citizens' office. The Citizens' Office team can then put you in touch with refugees who are eligible for this accommodation. As the need ranges from single people to larger families, flats of all sizes can be registered.
Important: If people receive citizen's allowance, the job centre will pay the rent for a flat - provided the rent is reasonable according to the legal requirements. This is why rental offers are also submitted to the job centre of the municipality of Bestwig before the rental agreement is signed, which then checks that the rent is appropriate. "Many people who have been granted a residence permit are looking for a flat," says Tobias Brun, Deputy Head of the Bestwig Citizens' Office - and also knows that having their own accommodation is often an important step towards a job and integration later on: "After all, receiving benefits should only be a temporary situation."
