Exciting holiday workshops in the Sauerland visitor mine

Ramsbeck. The autumn holidays become an exciting journey of discovery into a past that is sometimes millions of years old with the workshops offered by the Sauerland visitor mine in Ramsbeck in October. Regardless of the weather, children can experience how exciting and educational mining can be - both above and below ground.

"Carrying ore until your back cracks" is the name of the workshop on Friday, 17 October - and it takes you into the dark world of the miners in Ramsbeck. Participants aged between 6 and 10 will explore the world of miners and build their own ore carrier out of plywood. Then it's off on a discovery tour on the rustic mine railway to the Sauerland visitor mine underground.

One week later, on Friday 24 October, the focus will be on fossils - at the "Fossils in Ramsbeck" workshop, children aged 7 and over will become young researchers themselves with a microscope and magnifying glass. First, real fossils are examined; then the participants make small fossil moulds out of plaster. The last part of the workshop takes them into the Sauerland underworld to track down real fossils.

Both workshops run from 1 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.; participation - including admission and mine tour - costs 14.50 euros each.

As the number of participants is limited on all dates, registration at the Sauerland Visitor Mine is essential: call 02905/250 or email info@sauerlaender-besucherbergwerk.de.
