Ceremonial inauguration in Nuttlar: extension and new vehicles handed over
Nuttlar. The Nuttlar firefighting group of the Bestwig municipal fire brigade celebrated the inauguration of its new extension to the fire station at the weekend - an important milestone for the local volunteer firefighters. At the same time, three new vehicles were officially handed over: a state-of-the-art rescue fire fighting vehicle (HLF 10) and two crew transport vehicles (MTW).
Mayor Ralf Péus praised the commitment of the firefighters and emphasised the importance of the investments: "The fire brigade is a central component for safety in our community. With the new extension and the vehicles, we are creating optimal conditions for operations, training and junior staff work." The municipality of Bestwig provided over two million euros for the entire project. The new extension adds urgently needed space to the fire station - including for the new HLF10 large vehicle and a black and white separation of contaminated emergency clothing and private clothing. In addition to the extension to the fire station, the Nuttlar firefighting group is also taking delivery of a new HLF 10, a rescue firefighting vehicle. This replaces a more than 30-year-old fire-fighting vehicle and significantly improves operational readiness for fires and technical assistance.
In addition to the large vehicle, two new MTW (crew transport vehicles) were also handed over to the youth fire brigade and the Ostwig fire brigade group. Here, the municipality of Bestwig once again proved that municipal procurements are also possible quickly and unbureaucratically. Just two months passed between the fire brigade management's request for a further vehicle and the order being placed, and the new vehicle was collected a further eight months later. The vehicles support crew transport and the work of the youth fire brigade. The vehicles and the building were blessed by clergymen Father Reinald Rickert OSB and Pastor Burkhard Krieger. Matthias Miesel from the Lichtenwalde fire brigade travelled from the partner municipality of Niederwiesa to convey his best wishes in person.
In addition to numerous firefighters, representatives from politics and administration were also present. The Bestwig municipal council has launched a comprehensive offensive for the fire service in recent months: In the coming years, several fire stations in the municipality will be newly built or expanded in order to meet the increasing demands for safety and the corresponding space for vehicle technology.
This day is a real cause for celebration for the volunteers of the Bestwig municipal fire brigade - not only because of the new vehicles and the increased space available in the fire station, but also because it shows that their voluntary work is recognised: Their voluntary work is seen, appreciated and supported for the future.
