Attractive sports facility for all age groups: Bestwiger citizens' sports park opens
Bestwig. An attractive sports facility for all ages and population groups has been created here in the municipality of Bestwig: with the senior citizens' walking path, the boules area and the multi-purpose sports field, the latest building blocks for the Bestwig citizens' sports park at the Bähnchen have been completed in recent weeks. The facility is now being officially handed over to the citizens: The opening of the citizens' sports park will take place on Saturday, 13 September, with a day to try it out and get active. The municipality of Bestwig and TuS Velmede-Bestwig are inviting the entire population.
"The cooperation between the council and administration, volunteers and many good ideas has ensured that a special place has been created here," says Mayor Ralf Péus happily. Where just a few years ago red ash dominated on a clay pitch, there is now a multifunctional facility with facilities for people of all ages - "a real community sports park," adds Elmar Dünschede, Chairman of TuS Velmede-Bestwig. And on 13 September, anyone interested can find out what is possible at the Bähnchen.
It starts from 11.00 to 14.30 with the KIBAZ movement course for children. The KIBAZ is a tried-and-tested exercise programme that gets three- to six-year-old children excited about exercise, games and sport in a fun and age-appropriate way. The kids run through ten exercise stations in the form of a course with no time limit. The main aim of the Kibaz is to have fun and develop motor skills, but not to measure the children's performance.
At 11.30 a.m. and 1 p.m., older people can explore the SeniorGEHweg, where every senior can organise their own personal movement and coordination training at various stations. TuS Velmede-Bestwig will provide interested visitors with a written introduction to the course. "Boules for everyone" is the motto at 12 noon on the new boules course. TuS Velmede-Bestwig will be providing boules sets for visitors to try out. A board with the rules of the game will be displayed for new boules players. There will also be an outdoor chess board with appropriately sized pieces.
Mayor Ralf Péus and TuS chairman Elmar Dünschede will officially open the course at 1.00 pm, before a Bambini football tournament begins on the small pitch at 1.30 pm. At 2.00 pm, the TuS running club will be offering a timed run on the Finn and Tartan tracks.
The new ranger trail, which was completed just a few days ago, will be inaugurated at 2.30 pm. The centrepiece of the facility is a time recording module that will enable users of the running tracks and obstacle course to record their own times in future. Championship matches between the local junior football teams will follow from 3 to 5 pm.
TuS Velmede-Bestwig will cater for the physical well-being of the visitors. For TuS chairman Elmar Dünschede, it is particularly important that the invitation is extended to all citizens: "After all, the Citizens' Sports Park and its facilities are open to the entire community." The Schwarz-Weiß Andreasberg sports club already uses the Citizens' Sports Park for the winter training of its senior footballers; the Bergkloster Bestwig vocational college has also been using the Citizens' Sports Park for its sports lessons since this school year. Mayor Ralf Péus: "And now all citizens have the opportunity to discover for themselves what is possible here in terms of sport, exercise and health.
