Anniversary, but different: tree donation for 100 years of Elektro Hegener in Bestwig

Bestwig. Elektro Hegener in Bestwig is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. A reason to celebrate? "We don't think so," says the former, long-standing owner Wilhelm Hegener: "Times are challenging, the worries and fears of many people are palpable. Unrest, wars, the loss of humanity and the excessive violence in many regions of the world have led us to the decision not to celebrate our anniversary." Instead, the company is setting an example for growth and sustainability in the community of Bestwig in another way.

"In view of the rapid pace of change and the heated atmosphere in our society, we should reflect on our inner core and allow calm, prudence and compassion to return - to examine what is important in life and in working together," emphasises Wilhelm Hegener: "Only a 'calm mind' can solve problems with creativity, mindfulness and empathy, learn from mistakes and thus make the world a better place for us all."

Instead of a party, Elektro Hegener makes a donation. Something sustainable - for nature, which is also suffering. Three hundred trees were planted in the Bestwig community forest. Wilhelm Hegener: "They represent 3 generations and 100 years of Elektro Hegener. The growth of these trees accompanies the future growth of the Elektro Hegener company." Denny Schulz is the new owner of the traditional Bestwig company, now in its 4th generation. Wilhelm Hegener's conclusion: "Our lives and events in the world move in waves - after every low, things go up again - we can trust that. Everything will be fine!"
